In year 2000 MacArtney A/S added a new dimension to the 2D towed vehicles and introduced the TRIAXUS, a true 3D tow fish.
The TRIAXUS is designed for high speed oceanographic data acquisition, and can be pre-programmed to undulate vertically, laterally off the stern of the ship in a undisturbed water column. The hydro-dynamic design which features flaps for vertical as well as lateral control is supplied by DMI, the Danish Maritime Institute.
The design uses the latest carbon fibre moulding technologies, and the system is designed to carry a broad range of sensor packages from leading manufacturers of oceanographic monitoring equipment.
